HEX WEB DESIGN · LEGAL
Terms & Conditions
Website design, development, maintenance and related services.
Last updated: 27 October 2026. These terms apply to services supplied by Nic Taylor, a UK sole trader trading as Hex UK and operating Hex Web Design and Hex Hosting. Business correspondence address is being arranged. Email: hello@hexwebdesign.uk.
1. Quotes and project scope
Our written quotation, agreed specification, proposal and later agreed variations define the work, deliverables, milestones, price and timetable. Estimates and availability are not guarantees until agreed. Additional work or revisions outside the scope and third-party costs require agreement before additional charges are incurred.
2. Client responsibilities
Clients must provide accurate briefs, timely feedback, appropriate access, content they have rights to use, and approvals. Delays may change agreed delivery dates. Clients are responsible for the accuracy and legality of their own claims, content and notices unless specific compliance work is expressly included.
3. Fees, deposits and payment
Payment amounts, deposits (if any), invoice due dates and payment stages are set out in the quote or invoice. No fixed non-refundable deposit is imposed by this page. Where lawful, work may pause on overdue invoices after reasonable notice.
4. Revisions and acceptance
Included revision rounds and the review process are set out in the quotation. Scope changes may affect fees or timescales. Clients will have a reasonable opportunity to review work and report defects. Project acceptance does not remove statutory rights where work was not performed with reasonable care and skill.
5. Cancellation and refunds
Customers can request cancellation by email. Payment for completed work and committed third-party expenses depends on the agreed project terms and applicable law. Consumers entering qualifying distance service contracts generally have 14 days to cancel, subject to statutory rules and exceptions. If a consumer expressly requests work to begin during that period, lawful proportionate charges may apply on cancellation; full performance ends the right only where the relevant statutory conditions are satisfied. Nothing here reduces legal remedies for defective services.
6. Intellectual property
Clients retain rights in content they provide and confirm they have permission to supply it. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, on payment of the agreed fees clients receive rights to use bespoke final project deliverables created for them. Third-party code, themes, plugins, fonts, photographs and services remain subject to their own licences. Pre-existing templates, tools, know-how and software are not assigned unless agreed; clients receive the usage rights needed to operate the agreed deliverables.
7. Hosting and third-party services
Where ordered through Hex Hosting, hosting and domains are subject to separate applicable service and registry terms. Third-party platforms, licences, themes, plugins and subscriptions may change or become unavailable. Unless a quote expressly includes them, recurring hosting, domain, maintenance and subscription fees are not included in a one-off website design fee.
8. Support and maintenance
Maintenance, updates, monitoring, backups, response targets and support hours apply only when expressly purchased and documented. After handover, continuing maintenance is not included unless agreed. No service can guarantee permanent third-party compatibility or uninterrupted operation, but work must meet applicable standards of reasonable care and skill.
9. Data protection and security
The client is generally responsible for personal data collected through its own website. Where we process such data on the client’s instructions, an appropriate data processing agreement will be entered into where required by UK GDPR. Clients should maintain secure credentials and independent copies of important content. See our Privacy Policy.
10. Liability and statutory rights
Nothing excludes or limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or other liabilities which cannot legally be excluded. We remain responsible for reasonably foreseeable losses arising from our breach or negligence as required by law. Any business-to-business liability limitation must be separately agreed and comply with applicable law. Consumer statutory rights remain unaffected.
11. Complaints and governing law
Contact hello@hexwebdesign.uk with project details and concerns. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to mandatory consumer rights, including applicable jurisdiction rules.
12. Changes
Changes to an agreed project are subject to the agreed variation process and applicable law. Updating these website terms does not automatically change an existing contract.
